HFL Addresses 2 Big Problems

Physical Poverty & Spiritual Poverty

The Solution:

Instead of reaching out to groups and asking them for finances or resources for their own projects and priorities, HFL comes alongside local partners, removing obstacles that prohibit from having a global impact.

Local teams become the primary vehicle for building relationships. HFL helps facilitate the involvement, which changes the lives of people.

Although based in Chilliwack, BC, Hungry For Life has local partners across Canada that facilitate 62 projects with International Partners in 15 countries.

About Hungry For Life

Hungry For Life (HFL) began as a monthly interchurch worship event called Shekinah, originally a ministry of Chilliwack Alliance Church. Shekinah quickly grew, drawing hundreds of people from various churches and denominations united by a common passion: to experience the power and presence of Jesus.

As the ministry developed, its leaders were increasingly guided by Scripture, realizing that true worship must be expressed through more than just music. “Worshiping with our lives” became the core mandate, rooted in the biblical principles of 2 Chronicles 7:14 and Isaiah 58:10. This deeper understanding of worship led Shekinah to become actively involved in international relief projects—an outflow of renewed and passionate relationships with Christ.

As opportunities expanded to help people experience and demonstrate the love of Jesus, it became clear that the vision had outgrown its origins in a single church. To support the growing work, a broader organizational structure was established, and Hungry For Life was born.

Now, 22 years later, HFL exists to facilitate direct and transformative relationships between God’s people and projects that alleviate human suffering. Serving as an invisible pathway between the Church and global need, HFL empowers local churches, businesses, and community groups to engage deeply and personally with those in need.

Rather than initiating their own projects, HFL supports churches and groups in assisting others with their projects—coming alongside local leaders to amplify their impact. In the process, lives are changed—not just those who are helped, but also those who serve, blessed by the experience of direct involvement in God’s mission to care for the poor.

True impact is forged through personal connections and active participation

HFL's ultimate aspiration is to witness spiritual vibrancy and the flourishing of humanity while tirelessly working toward the eradication of needless suffering. At the core, they embrace the power of short-term trips to catalyze personal transformation.

By facilitating opportunities for direct engagement, they forge authentic relationships, bridging cultural divides, and fostering a shared sense of purpose and collaboration. By empowering individuals as change agents, they advocate for lasting solutions and a compassionate world where everyone thrives.

What's My Role?

I’ve always had a natural inclination toward organization and strong administrative skills. Growing up, I knew I wanted to help people, though I wasn't sure exactly what that would look like. That clarity began to take shape when I completed a Discipleship Training School with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Perth, Australia, in 2017. It was there that I realized missions was the avenue through which I could live out my heart’s desire to help others.

In 2019, I joined the staff at YWAM Perth and served in the registrar’s office. It was a meaningful season where I could use my administrative giftings to support students on their journey to know God and make Him known. During that time, God spoke a powerful truth to me: He would enable me so that I could enable others. That calling became central to how I saw my role in ministry.

While I was deeply passionate about seeing lives transformed, the instability of living overseas long-term wasn’t sustainable for me. Around that time, I learned about Hungry For Life through my close friend Abby, whose parents are the founders. After stepping out of YWAM at the end of 2021 and prayerfully considering my next steps, it became clear that joining HFL was the perfect fit—a way to combine my passion for helping others, enabling transformation, and using my administrative strengths, all from my home in Chilliwack, BC.

Today, I serve as the Executive Administrator at Hungry For Life. In this role, I support the Leadership Team and provide central administrative assistance across the organization. It’s my ongoing prayer that I would faithfully steward the gifts God has given me, continue to enable those around me, and be a part of seeing lives changed both locally and globally.

We envision global thriving communities
